Compose for Change:
Healing Arts
Discover your voice as an arts activist!

Dear Participants,

This class series empowers you to explore a social issue you care about, to research it, and develop your voice by telling stories through artistic expressions. Be among the first to learn the healing arts methods we developed. Why are we sharing our hard-earned wisdom? We're stronger together. We will mentor participants to become social justice advocates–first, by listening to people affected by specific issues; then, following up with impactful research, community engagement, and artistic creativity.

Together, we'll take a deep dive into topics that will stay with you for a lifetime:

  • Community Standards

  • What Helps You Heal?

  • The 8 Levels of Listening

  • Why are Empathy and Compassion Essential?

  • Social Injustices: Suffering & Causes

  • Intersectionality

  • Flipping the Narrative

  • Global Majority Wisdom & Healing Arts

  • The 5 Stages of Healing from Trauma

  • Trauma-Sensitive Interviewing Techniques

  • Reliable Resources

  • Writing Compellingly for Change

  • Rest & Restoration

  • Humility & Cultural Roots

  • Vulnerability & Courage

  • Solutions & Accountability

  • Arts Activism & Community.

You will gain tools to process experiences and build deeper understanding both personal and collective. Each journey culminates in an original creative work such as music, writing, movement or visual expression; a research project; or both–you decide! Feeling ready to make a long-term commitment to healing arts? Sign up for the full certificate program of Compose for Change.

This is where learning meets transformation and art becomes a force for change.

Participants in the pilot class evaluated the course as:

“cathartic, life-changing, and healing…,

the most important class I’ve ever taken.”

I look forward to working with you, as you explore the transformative power of the arts, and compose for change!
