Dancer

Isa Huembes

Isa Huembes is a Nicaraguan-Cuban American dancer, teacher, and choreographer from Toledo, Ohio. Her dance journey began with Ballet Folklorico Imagines Mexicanas, later joining NYE Dance Productions and Ballet Nepantla, where she embraced performance as a means of cultural connection and self-expression. Isa’s work as a teacher centers on creating safe, empowering spaces where dancers grow not only in technique but also in identity and strength.

Through her collaborations with Healing Bells, Isa uses choreographic storytelling to amplify survivor voices, engage the Latine community, and offer comfort and visibility to those affected by trauma. Her passion for movement as healing is matched by her commitment to solidarity and collective transformation.

“Dance has consistently been an outlet I turn to when looking to express myself, and connecting with my culture. I feel extremely lucky to have the opportunity to use my passion to bring awareness and comfort to the Latine community and to all who have experienced trauma. Having a space where I can not only rebuild myself from trauma through dance, but highlight the stories of others is such an uplifting experience. We must stand in solidarity with one another as we fight to make changes and uplift voices that need to be heard.”
